Blount County Sheriff’s Office Website Redesign
The Blount County Sheriff’s Office website redesign replaced an outdated CivicPlus system that no longer worked for the agency or the public. The old site ran slow, did not scale well on phones, and made basic tasks harder than they should be. It used a generic layout that failed to match the agency’s identity.
The old system loaded large scripts and unoptimized files. Pages stalled and often failed to load on mobile connections. Core Web Vitals scores were low. Navigation was cluttered. Important items like recruitment, and records request information took multiple clicks to reach. The layout used outdated code, weak accessibility markup, and poor heading structure.
A major goal of the project was a new inmate lookup system that tied into the agency’s Spillman Flex RMS. The system was built with ASP.NET and MVC to read live custody data directly from their secured server and display inmate details in a simple and clean interface. It updates in real time without manual entry. This gave the public accurate information and reduced staff workload for routine phone calls.
The new site runs on WordPress and uses strict performance standards. Pages load fast on the in-house server. Core Web Vitals scores improved across all metrics. The design uses official colors and approved imagery. The layout keeps important items at the top level, so the public can reach them in one click. The code follows modern best practices and is easy for staff to update.
The final product is faster, cleaner, and easier for the public to use. It reflects the agency’s identity and provides a stable foundation for future tools, updates, and content.
